Rock N Roll Manifesto 163: Cops

Ayinger OktoberfestA spin off of the “Protest Songs” show, tonight’s episode was all about the men in blue. Cops, pigs, the fuzz, whatever you want to call them. Police states, police brutality, martial law, it’s all covered here and then some.

Also, since Oktoberfest is in full swing, I decided to have a Bavarian Märzenbier for the Beer Minute, and then followed that up with two local offerings brewed in the same style.

Next week’s show will be back to the usual, all-over-the-place format. I will have two new tracks from Switchblade Cheetah and possibly a new one from Gag Order. Exciting stuff!

Rock N Roll Manifesto 162

Old Crafty HenTommy Unit said tonight, “from Hank, Sr. to the Misfits in under an hour! Only on the Rock N Roll Manifesto!” That about sums up my show perfectly. I love it!

Had some tributes to the recently departed, some birthday shoutouts, some requests and lots of great rock n roll tonight. Check it out.

Rock N Roll Manifesto 160: Protest Songs

GotterdammerungWith all that’s been going on stateside lately, I thought it was a perfect opportunity to throw together a show focused upon anti-war songs and social and political protest songs. I asked the Manifesto listeners for some suggestions, and then dove into my stacks of music and picked out the best songs I could find about a variety of topics. I spent a lot of time putting this show together, even more-so than usual, so I hope that the end result is a show that people will really like. Either way, thanks for listening. Next week, I’ll be back with a normal, all-over-the-place show.

Rock N Roll Manifesto 159

SuperfuzzBack to the normalcy of a regular Manifesto tonight, as it should be, I suppose. No theme, just music from all over the place. Played 3 new kick-ass singles from Rapid Pulse Records tonight, go pick them up over at Underground Medicine.

Buy a shirt, make my day! Review the Manifesto in iTunes. Follow me on Twitter @RnRManifesto. Remember to tip the DJ!

See ya next week, folks.

Rock N Roll Manifesto 158: A Musical Journey

Grand CruTonight’s show was meant to start a conversation. Music is a journey, and I’ve been thinking a lot about how I got from point A to point B, musically. A lot of times, I can remember when and where I heard a band, and who turned me onto them. I can remember how hearing that band led me to seek out other bands that were similar. It’s crazy what a song can do. Think about your musical journey. How did you get from one genre to the next?

I still have t-shirts left. Buy one, please! Send me a message and let me know what size you want.

Rock N Roll Manifesto 157: Cover Your Ass 3

FestinaThe Manifesto is back with another installment of Cover Your Ass, original songs backed with cover versions- some straight, some completely different. You may like the original better, or maybe the cover. Either way, I hope you dig the stuff I’ve picked out, and I’ll be back live next week.

Sorry for the crappy beer picture, my wife has the camera.

Just realized that I played a set of songs that I’ve played before in the Cover Your Ass series, so I edited them out, which will make the episode slightly shorter than it would have been. Damn my brain!
