Rock N Roll Manifesto 128: Cover Your Ass!

OatTonight was the first of a series of shows where I play an original song and then a cover version of it. I’m sure I could do quite a few of these shows, but I’ll probably just do one or two more. Next week I will be back with a normal show, though. Thanks to Jerry for the name.

Had some news tonight about a new show I’ll be doing once in a while over at Thumbin’ Radio, more news about some upcoming t-shirts, a great Beer Minute from Southern Tier, and another Beer Minute going out to Dan and Pete, who gave me great reviews in iTunes. Thanks, guys! Much appreciated.

Rock N Roll Manifesto 127

Rogue Chocolate StoutThis week’s show started off with some 50’s rock n roll and rockabilly, then moved over to some country, punk, and a whole lot more down the line.

Had a damn fine Beer Minute tonight, an announcement about my country themed shows being played on another station, a visit from my wife and daughter and some other stuff as well. I forgot to do an Elvis education this week, but it doesn’t seem like anyone really missed it.

Next week I’ll be doing a show of originals and cover versions. This may be an ongoing series, as I have a lot of material lined up and am not nearly 1/3 of the way through my collection. We’ll see what happens.

Rock N Roll Manifesto 126

Nut Brown This week on the Manifesto, I announced the winner of the Stevie Tombstone LP, blew up the Manifesto Facebook page, had two Beer Minutes, an Elvis Education and still had time for lots of great music.

Rock N Roll Manifesto 122

Samuel SmithEpisode 122 brought a rant about the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame, a set in memory of Otis Redding and Sam Cooke, some Xmas tunes, a kick-ass last minute band submission by the Enders (go buy their CD!), some punk rock classics, a delicious Beer Minute, and a top 5 beer list!

My Top 5 Beer List (in no particular order and subject to change at any time):

  • Unibroue La Fin Du Monde
  • Troegs Nugget Nectar
  • Timothy Taylor’s Landlord
  • Ithaca Flower Power/Ballast Point Sculpin (a tie!)

Rock N Roll Manifesto 121

Happy Repeal Day! Yes, Dec. 5th, 1933 the 18th Amendment to the US Constitution was repealed and the 21st Amendment was ratified, allowing Americans to drink beer, wine and spirits again. There was much rejoicing.

Tonight on the show I celebrated Repeal Day with two three Beer Minutes (one was a drain pour, grrr!), lots of hardcore, punk rock, hard rock and much, much more! I even got off my lazy ass and did a Diggin’ Through the Record Crate segment.
