Rock N Roll Manifesto 121

Happy Repeal Day! Yes, Dec. 5th, 1933 the 18th Amendment to the US Constitution was repealed and the 21st Amendment was ratified, allowing Americans to drink beer, wine and spirits again. There was much rejoicing.

Tonight on the show I celebrated Repeal Day with two three Beer Minutes (one was a drain pour, grrr!), lots of hardcore, punk rock, hard rock and much, much more! I even got off my lazy ass and did a Diggin’ Through the Record Crate segment.

Rock N Roll Manifesto 120

Another week, another journey down the musical rabbit hole that is the Rock N Roll Manifesto. Started the show an hour early tonight, which I may do more often. More on that during the show. Not much more to say. Hope you enjoy the trip.

Happy Turkey Day. Cheers!

Rock N Roll Manifesto 118

The return! That’s right, after a two week absence the Manifesto returned. I don’t know about you folks, but to me, two weeks seemed like an eternity. I really missed doing the show. So glad to be back!

Since I was off for so long, there’s a whole lot of new stuff this episode. New tracks from Torpedohead, Sonny Vincent, Biters, JD McPherson, Jim Jones Revue, Carrie and the Dirty Pillows and much, much more! Also squeezed in a Brats in Leather Jackets segment. The Beer Minute returned as well with a stout brewed with vanilla beans that tasted like butterscotch.

Thanks for all the support during my surgery, much appreciated. Hope you dig the show.

Rock N Roll Manifesto 117: Halloween

It’s that time of year: Halloween! Since I started the Manifesto I’ve done two of these Halloween shows every year, but I started to feel like I was running out of stuff to play, so I thought I’d cut it back to one this time. I might not even do one next year. I dunno. We’ll see.

That being said, I hope you enjoy this Halloween show. It’s mostly songs I’ve never played on a Halloween show before, though there were a couple of repeats at the end of the show because I needed to fill more time.

No Brats in Leather Jackets this week, but the Beer Minute fit in with the Halloween theme.

This show was especially cool for me because it was simulcast on terrestrial radio in Oakland, CA, on Berkeley Liberation Radio 104.1 FM. I had no idea that was going to happen, but it was a nice surprise! Thanks, Natasha!

Just a reminder, there will be no Manifesto on October 31st! I shall return on November 7th. Hope to see you then!

Rock N Roll Manifesto 116

This felt like a big show. Was it? You be the judge. There surely was lots of new stuff: a reissue, some new releases, and some mind blowing stuff that was new to me, but not really new.  Top it off with some rockabilly, some Detroit proto-punk and Brats in Leather Jackets, and you have a jam packed show!

Tonight’s Beer Minute was a fresh hop ale from the great Tröegs brewery, who just won 3 gold medals at the Great American Beer Festival, along with winning the title of Mid Sized Brewery of the Year. Go Tröegs!

Don’t forget, next week is the annual Rock N Roll Manifesto Halloween show!

Rock N Roll Manifesto 115: Stevie Tombstone and More

Big show tonight!! Stevie Tombstone joined me for the first 90 minutes, talking about and playing tracks from his upcoming album, “Greenwood.” We even had a CD giveaway! After that  I played about 30 minutes or more of random stuff including the new single from Torpedohead, a Beer Minute and a Brats in Leather Jackets segment.  After that I did an hour of songs in memory of Nick Curran who passed away recently at way too young of an age. This was a long episode, almost 3.5 hours!

Rock N Roll Manifesto 114

It was back to the regular format of playing whatever came to my brain tonight. Expect the usual mix of this and that. Hopefully, you’ll dig it. Had a couple of requests from weeks ago that I needed to play, some kick ass rock n roll, a debut from Stevie Tombstone, a Brats in Leather Jackets segment, and a Märzen for the Beer Minute in honor of Oktoberfest. What more do you need?

Next week, Stevie Tombstone will be on the Manifesto talking about his upcoming record, “Greenwood.” The following two weeks will be Halloween episodes. Don’t miss any of them!

Rock N Roll Manifesto 113: Murder in the Country

I’ve been wanting to do this show for a long time, but didn’t have quite enough material for a full show until a few days ago, thanks to hours of digging on the internet, suggestions from listeners, and some help from the great T. Tex Edwards.

What we have here is two hours of some of the creepiest, most deranged country and folk music ever made, all with one theme in common: murder.

There’s nothing good or cool about any kind of violence, and especially not murder, but there’s something oddly fascinating about these songs. They’re like a train wreck you can’t look away from, little horror movies in musical form.

The Beer Minute was the legendary Founders Breakfast Stout. There was no Brats in Leather Jackets segment this week, but it will return next week.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this show as much as I enjoyed putting it together.

Rock N Roll Manifesto 112: Rapid Pulse Records

Tonight’s show was dedicated entirely to Rapid Pulse Records releases. Rapid Pulse has been putting out records for 20 years, and it’s all killer stuff, as evidenced by this here podcast. Not a bad song in the bunch! Unfortunately for all of us, most of it is out of print, but there are a few releases you can still get by going to Underground Medicine and dropping Jim an email. Also, check out their Facebook page and click that “like” button. If the reaction in the chat was any indication of the coming response to this show, everyone’s going to really dig it. Good luck finding the releases that are out of print!

Also tonight we found time for a Beer Minute and a Brats in Leather Jackets segment to round it out. Download and rock your ass off!
